About

Today India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. For maintaining such a growth rate in tandem with growing population, the affordable and renewable energy supply is one of the major emerging challenges. At this juncture,it is essential to discuss and chalk out plans for innovative materials and technologies for harnessing energy from renewable sources. The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in association with the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) –Mumbai Chapter announces a conference on “Materials & Technologies for Energy Conversion and Storage (M-TECS 2018)” to provide a common platform to material scientists, technologists and industrialists for discussing and sharing their expertise and challenges related to energy conversion and storage. Contributions are welcomed from all fields of renewal energy sources, related technologies and development of instruments.

About Organizers: BARC is a premier multi-disciplinary research and development centre in India. It was set up in the year 1954 as Atomic Energy Establishment Trombay. In 1967, it was renamed after the founder of the establishment, Dr. Homi J. Bhabha. BARC has state-of-art infrastructure for pursuing R & D covering the entire spectrum of Nuclear Science & Engineering.
MRSI came into existence in February 1989, thanks to the farsighted vision of Prof. C. N. R. Rao. The Society is committed to stimulate and integrate research in the field of materials for rapid industrial progress in the country. MRSI functions through 18 Regional Chapters and 16 Subject groups. Among others, MRSI Mumbai-Chapter is one of the active chapters engaged in promoting materials research in and around Mumbai region, which includes but not limited to organizing several theme Symposia, Seminars, Workshops, MRSI Annual lectures, and also granting travel awards to researchers.

About the Place: Mumbai is situated on seven islands: Isle of Bombay, Parel, Mazagaon, Mahim, Colaba, Worli, and Old Woman's Island (Little Colaba). It is the , commercial and entertainment capital of India. It is also one of the prominent scientific and academic hubs in India. Mumbai is home of India’s premiere nuclear institutes for example, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Nuclear Power Corporation of India, and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. The city also is also known for premiere academic institutes like Indian institute of technology (IIT –Bombay), University of Mumbai – one of the oldest universities in India, and Institute of Chemical Technology.

Venue

Anushaktinagar, is located at Trombay in the north-eastern part of the Mumbai city, which is well connected to the other parts of India and to the rest of the world. Participants arriving by train should alight at Dadar, Mumbai Central, Mumbai CSMT, Kurla LTT, or Bandra Terminus railway stations. Anushaktinagar is about 30 km from Mumbai CSMT and less than 30 km from the other terminals. Those travelling by flights will arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International / Domestic airport which are about 20 km from venue. Delegates coming by flights are advised to take taxi from pre-paid taxi service windows at the airports. Anushaktinagar is also approachable by the harbour branch of local trains. Call for papers

High quality research contributions describing original and unpublished results of conceptual, constructive, empirical, experimental or theoretical work in all areas fall under the scope of the conference will be accepted and invited for presentation at the conference. All authors are encouraged to submit their research abstracts and papers online.

Preparation of Manuscript

Please follow the Microsoft Word templates for the preparation of manuscripts provided under Downloads section of this website.

To submit a paper, one has to create a ‘user account’ at this website.

At present, doc files of the abstract (~ 250 words in size) and paper (an extended abstract upto one or two pages in length, including Figures) need to be submitted online. This extended abstract would be reviewed by two competent reviewers. The recommended papers will be accepted for presentation during the conference as posters/orals, and will also be considered for publication with Bulletin of Material Science.

Conference Proceedings

Publication: High quality research papers presented in the conference will be published online in the special issue of the Bulletin of Materials Science (www.springer.com/12034, 5-Yr impact factor 1.179).

In addition, special issue of new open access Elsevier/Kies journal Material Science for Energy Technology ( https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/materials-science-for-energy-technologies ) is also planned. The page charges are waived for our special issue.

The authors can submit full length manuscript based on the work presented in the conference to any of the above mentioned special issues. Each issue will have about 20-30 high quality papers.

Procedure:

Only presented papers at the conference should be submitted for consideration for publication in special issues of these two journals. It may be noted that the presented paper can be submitted in any of the journal of your choice (but not both, strictly). You need to certify in cover letter that work is not being submitted/considered for publication at any other place.

The manuscript should be prepared as per the guidelines provided at the journal home page. It should adhere to all qualities required for publication in an international journal.

For submission, you need to visit journal homepage and open an account. If you already have Elsevier/EES login credentials these can be used for MSET. Similarly, Springer credentials can be used for BOMS.

You are requested to prepare a cover letter, in which it should be clearly mentioned that article is for consideration for special issue for the conference, Material & Technologies for Energy Conversion and Storage (to be) held at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai during Sept 26-29, 2018.
